HISTORY OF TAMPIN
Tampin is a district which is located at the border of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka (Alor Gajah District). Tampin District Council was formed on 1st of July 1980, resulting from restructuring via provisions of the Local Government Act 1976. Tampin was previously known as Tampin Board of District. Tampin stretches the areas of 50 square miles or 12,949.94 hectare.
ADMINISTRATIVE AREAS TAMPIN
The area which falls under the administration of Tampin District Council includes:-
- Tampin Town
- Gemencheh Town
- Gemencheh Lama
- Gemencheh Baru
- Batang Melaka
- Air Kuning Selatan
- Gedok
- Gemas
These administration areas are divided into three categories:-
i. Operational Area of 14.50 square miles or 3,755.47 hectares.
ii. Outside Operational Area or Controlled Area of 23.25 square miles or 6,021.73 hectare.
iii. Along roadside area of 12.25 square miles or 3,172.74 hectare.
These areas cover 14.75 percent of District of Tampin’s total area
